Toyota Hyrcross (Hybrid) – Technical Update

Somedays back, we have delivered 2025 manufactured Toyota Hycross Hybrid cars. During the PDI, we noticed that there is a typical sound which comes from the engine side, specifically when you reverse the car and even sometimes when the car is moving forward. Upon our further investigation, we noticed that the noise is only coming when the car is in electric mode.

If yes, please note that this is AVAS – Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System. This is a mandated safety feature to alert pedestrains of their approach. It is designed to be audible in quiet areas.

That is what we have found in google and also we have rechecked with a local Toyota Service Center upon taking the car there personally.

Our recommendation, if you are facing the same issue, do not worry, it is just an alert system. Also, you can switch from electric mode to petrol mode, if the noise is heard much in quiet areas.
